Sabal Finance is a financial caregiving platform for families created by Sabal Technology Inc. (Sabal, we, us, our). We care about being transparent about how we collect, use, and share your personal information.

Information We Collect

Email Address

We may collect your email address while using our services. Providing your email address is optional when browsing our marketing website but required to join the update email list and to use the application.

Phone Number

We collect your phone number during the sign-up process. This is optional when browsing our marketing website or joining the update email list.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies, like tracking pixels and your browser’s local storage. There are cookies that are required to use and secure our services, cookies that are used to help us understand performance and analytics, and cookies used in advertising and marketing.

Device Information

We collect information about the device used to access our services. This information depends on the device and includes IP addresses, browser types and versions, make, and model.

Product Usage

We collect information about how you use our products, including page views and click events.

Personal Information

We collect personal information, such as your first and last name. You directly provide this information while using the application: we do not obtain this information for alternative sources.

Financial Information

Usage of the Sabal application typically involves ingesting data about your financial accounts. This includes the name of the financial institution holding the accounts, account names, account balances, account identifiers, transaction information, and any associated derived information.

Note that Sabal does not directly collect or store complete ACH account numbers or credit card information during payment or aggregation. Instead, we receive a masked version of that information in the application from our vendors.

Similarly, we do not directly collect or store financial account sign-in information. After customers have authenticated with their institution using our aggregation vendor, we receive a token that grants Sabal read access to the consented information.

How We Use Information

Authentication

Cookies are used to identify a specific browser session and changes when your authentication status changes (ex. after sign-in, after sign-out). Authentication itself will be done primary through passkeys, though you can alternatively use the combination of your phone and email.

Product Services

The collected information helps us operate our business. This includes running our hosted services, supporting those services, improving our product, personalizing your experience, and communicating with customers about their account. Note that your phone number will only be used in the context of authentication.

The financial information collected will be surfaces in the application, used to compute account analytics, and processed in other ways that provide insight into that data. This may include using statistical models to derive information about the data.

Advertising and Marketing Materials

Your email may be used to share Sabal marketing material, such as product updates and promotions. Your phone number will not be used for marketing. We may use your information to tailor promotions of our services on our websites or customize ads on third-party sites. You can opt-out of this use of your information by adjusting your cookie preferences.

Information We Share

We do not sell customer data. Any information sharing described in this section is a necessary part of offering our services.

Vendors and Service Providers

We share information with vendors who help us provide our services. This includes payment processors, hosting services, advertisers, and analytic providers. We only provide third parties with the minimum amount of information necessary to carry out their services.

Your Choices and Rights

Opt-Out of Marketing Communications

You can opt-out of receiving marketing emails from us by following the unsubscribe instructions in those emails. You can continue to use our services after unsubscribing. If there is an issue with the opt-out process, send an email to hello@sabal.finance and we’ll make sure your preferences are respected.

Access or Delete Your Information

You can request access to the personal information we collect about you or request that we delete your information by emailing hello@sabal.finance. All requests will be met within ten business days and confirmed with the requesting email.

How We Protect Information

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including multi-factor authentication of all customer and employee accounts, data encryption, and ensuring least-access principles are followed across our employees and vendors.

We run a Vulnerability Disclosure Program (see our policy) to ensure any security related issues can be safely reported and handled.

Children’s Privacy

Our services are restricted to users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. This is an extension of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule, which applies to children under 13 years of age.

Changes to this Policy

We may occasionally update this policy as allowed or required by applicable law. If we make significant changes, we will notify you of the changes if able.
