Definition

A trustee is an individual or institution appointed to manage and administer a trust. The trustee holds legal title to trust property and has a fiduciary responsibility to manage the trust assets for the benefit of the trust’s beneficiaries.

Trust management responsibilities include asset management, distribution, record keeping, tax compliance, and legal compliance.
